Police have shared dramatic footage of officers rescuing residents in a block of flats after a fire broke out nearby.
Two quick-thinking officers broke down doors and helped to evacuate the homes on top of and surrounding a commercial property after police were alerted to a fire in the building beneath them.
The officers - who called the fire brigade - were assisted by a member of the public who worked with them to clear the properties in Harrow, northwest London, on Saturday evening.
All residents were led to safety and some - along with the two officers - were treated for smoke inhalation after paramedics arrived.
Firefighters soon had the fire under control with minor damage to the residents' homes.
Acting Chief Inspector James Noble hailed the police officers.
"I am incredibly proud of the actions of these two officers, thanks to their quick thinking nobody was seriously injured," he said.
"Their actions demonstrate the commitment our officers have to protecting the members of the public, who, in this case, had no idea there was a fire in the building beneath them, until our officers raised the alarm.
"My thanks as well to the brave member of the public who assisted my officers. Thankfully the officers were not seriously harmed and are back out on duty."
