Sudan: What is the background to the clashes in the country's capital Khartoum?

Global leaders have spoken to the heads of Sudan's army and paramilitary in an effort to calm the violence that erupted on Saturday 15 April. Three UN World Food Programme workers were among the 61 killed in the clashes.
